EAGLES SPLIT SEASON OPENING DH

DUE WEST, S.C. - The Clarion University baseball team split a season-opening doubleheader with Bloomsburg in Due West, S.C., Sunday.

The Golden Eagles won Game One 12-8 before watching Bloomsburg rally to take Game Two 8-7.

In the first game, Clarion got three RBIs from Chad White and two apiece from Jason Krimsky, Scott Berkes, Matt Rossi and Ken Morgan to get the win. Krimsky and Berkes were each 3-for-4. Freshman Kevin Gnacinski picked up the victory for the Golden Eagles.

Clarion looked liked it may get the sweep of the twinbill leading 7-2 in the nightcap before Bloomsburg rallied to tie the game and then won it in the seventh with a hit off Mark White. Clarion hit three home runs in the game with Sean Zimmerman and Morgan each hitting two-run blasts and Erik Kempton a solo homer. Berkes and Krimsky each chipped in two more hits.

The Golden Eagles return to action at 3 p.m. Monday at Coker.
