HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Coker defeated Clarion 12-4 in collegiate baseball action Monday afternoon at Coker.
Gregg Bandzuh took the loss for the Golden Eagles going five innings and allowing five runs, all earned, on 11 hits while striking out four.
Three of Clarion's four runs came courtesy of the long ball, as Sean Zimmerman smacked a 2-run home run and Ken Morgan had a solo shot. Scott Berkes added an RBI for the Golden Eagles
The offense was led by a 2-for-3 performance that included a triple by Tom Briley with Jason Krimsky adding a double while also going 2-for-3. Matt Rossi also had a two-bagger for the Golden Eagles.
The loss drops Clarion to 1-2 on the young season. The Golden Eagles return to action Tuesday at Francis Marion.
