(BLOOMSBURG, PA.): Clarion's Softball team traveled to #6 ranked Bloomsburg on Saturday for a PSAC-Central doubleheader and dropped both games by scores of 8-1 and 12-5 at Hutchinson Field.
Clarion pounded out 12 hits in game two, and only trailed the #6 rated Huskies 6-4 through the top of the fifth inning, before Bloomsburg tallied four in the fifth and two in the sixth to put the game away 12-5.
In game two The Eagles posted single runs in the second and third, and two in the fourth to pull within 6-4. Marissa Myers doubled in the second, and came home to score on Nicole Lollo's single. In the third Carlie Cook homered to center field, and in the fourth Rachelle Yarger doubled to right center, Nicole Lindner doubled to center to put runners and second and third, and Kacie Nemeth singled in both runners.
Clarion's fifth run came in the sixth when Carlie Cook singled home Yarger with two outs. Yarger opened the inning with a double.
Erica Burkey pitched a complete game for Clarion, giving up 12 runs, all earned, on 19 hits.
In game one Clarion lost 8-1 with Megan Daley pitching the complete game. She yielded 8 runs, with only 5 earned. She struck out two.
Bloomsburg jumped out early scoring 4 in the first, 2 in the second and 2 in the third to lead 8-1 and that's how the game ended.
Clarion's run came in the second when Falicia Witmer singled and scored on a double from Nicole Lollo.
The Golden Eagles are 3-22 overall and 1-9 in the PSAC Central. Bloomsburg meanwhile ran their winning streak to 19 straight and now has an overall record of 35-3 and 12-0 in the Central Division.
Clarion hosts Indiana on Sunday in a doubleheader that will start at 1pm at Memorial Stadium.
