INDIANA - Ken Morgan went 2-for-2 with a double, a home run, three RBI's, three runs scored and two walks to lead Clarion to its first PSAC-West win of the season 8-5 over IUP in Game Two of a doubleheader at IUP Sunday afternoon.
That capped an outstanding day for the Golden Eagle catcher/designated hitter, who had three hits and six RBIs in the twinbill that was split between the two teams thanks to IUP's come-from-behind 6-4 win in Game One.
In the second game, Morgan's two-run home run in the fourth gave Clarion a 6-1 lead, and he then added an RBI double in a two-run seventh that helped expand the Golden Eagles lead to 7-4.
Clarion also got an RBI single in the second by Mark White, who scored latter in the inning on a passed ball, a two-run double in a four-run third by Jason Krimsky and a run-scoring single in the seventh by Kevin Keebler,
Gregg Bandzuh got the win throwing a complete-game seven hitter allowing five runs, three earned, while walking two, hitting a batter and striking out two. Mark White and Keebler each added two hits in the game with Mark White adding a triple. Chad White had a double for Clarion.
In the first game, Clarion trailed 3-0 going to the sixth but scored once in the sixth to make it 3-1 and then appeared to take the game with a three-run seventh that was highlighted by a two-out, bases-loaded, bases-clearing double by Morgan.
But IUP won the game on a walk-off three-run home run by Paul Bingham off of Eric Panko in the bottom of the seventh with one out.
Panko took the loss going 6 1/3 innings allowing six runs, all earned, on nine hits, four walks and a hit batter while striking out three.
Clarion is 4-22 overall, 1-15 PSAC-West on the season. The Golden Eagles return to action at 1 p.m. Monday when they host Mansfield in a doubleheader.
