LOCK HAVEN - The Clarion University baseball team was swept in a rare tripleheader at Lock Haven Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles fell by scores of 13-2, 8-6 and 14-3.
In Game One, which was the makeup game for yesterday's Game Two that was postponed by rain, saw Lock Haven take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first - it was Clarion's home game - before the Golden Eagles went up 2-1 with a pair in the bottom of the inning on RBIs by Sean Zimmerman and Ken Morgan.
But Lock Haven retook the lead with a three-run third and then added to the lead with single runs in the fourth and fifth before breaking open the game with a seven-run seventh.
Eric Panko took the loss going 6 1/3 innings allowing nine runs, eight earned, on eight hits and nine walks while striking out six. Kevin Gnacinski finished the last 2/3 of an inning allowing four runs on five hits. Scott Berkes led Clarion's offense going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
In Game Two, Clarion led 6-1 going to the sixth but Lock Haven scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to get the win.
Chad White led Clarion going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Jordan Labue was 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.
Brandon Slater took the loss going 5 1/3 innings allowing seven runs, three earned, on seven hits and four walks while striking out seven.
In the final game of the day, Lock Haven scored five in the fourth and six in the fifth to break open a 2-all game and get the 14-3 win.
Nate Weiss was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Morgan was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored.
Gregg Bandzuh took the loss going four innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on nine hits and a walk while striking out five. Jeremy Smith allowed six runs, all earned, on seven hits and a walk while striking out two in 2/3 of an inning.
Clarion is scheduled to host Millersville in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Golden Eagles are 6-28 overall and 1-19 in the PSAC-West.
