INDIANA –
Emma Fickel hit five three-pointers to move into fifth place in freshmen three-pointers made at Clarion and scored 16 points but it wasn't enough for Clarion to overcome a strong first-half performance by IUP in a 72-46 loss to the Crimson Hawks Saturday night at IUP.
Fickel was 5 of 12 from beyond the arc giving her 52 three-pointers, just five behind Allison Stodart for fourth all-time among freshmen at Clarion, but her five made shots accounted for a third of the total made shots for the Golden Eagles (4-12 overall, 1-3 PSAC-West), who hit just 15 of 47 (31.9 percent).
IUP (11-5, 3-1), meanwhile, had three players reach double digits including a game-high 19 points from Sarah Pastorek, who added seven rebounds. Eryn Withers chipped in 17 points and Katelyn Marshall 10 for the Crimson Hawks who used a 17-4 first-half run to break open a 15-point halftime lead, 30-15.
Clarion returns to action at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts Lock Haven
