CLARION FALLS TO LOCK HAVEN

CLARION – Lock Haven used a huge rebounding advantage to knock off Clarion 66-55 in PSAC-West women's basketball action Wednesday night at Clarion's Tippin Gym.
 
Lock Haven outrebounded Clarion 60-35 including 23-12 on the offensive glass and outscored the Golden Eagles 27-9 in second-chance points to get the victory.
 
The Lady Eagles (9-7 overall, 2-3 PSAC-West) used a 28-7 first-half run to build a 16-point lead, 32-16, late in the first half and still led by 10, 36-26, at halftime.
 
Clarion (4-13, 1-4) used a 6-0 run in the second half to get as close as five, 53-48, with 6:38 to play but couldn't get any closer.
 
Ann Deibert and Emma Fickel led Clarion with 12 points and four rebounds each. Fickel, who also had three steals, hit four three-pointers giving her 56 on the season, one behind Allison Stodart (2000) for fourth among freshmen in Clarion history. Lauren Savulchak chipped in 10 points, six rebounds and three assists off the bench.  Also contributing for the Golden Eagles were Courtney Healy with nine points and six rebounds and Raven Jones with eight points, five assists and three steals.
 
Emily Daugherty (13 points, 13 rebounds) and Sharray Hall (10 points, 11 rebounds) each had double-doubles for Lock Haven while Mahogany Spence and Kristen Kudrick each added 11 points.
 
Clarion returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Gannon.
