WHEELING, W. Va. – Despite 11 kills apiece from
Rebecca Webb and
Kellie Bartman, the Clarion University women's volleyball team had its five-game winning streak end in a tough 3-0 loss at Wheeling Jesuit Tuesday night.
All three sets were close, but the Golden Eagles (13-10) came up on the short end of each losing by scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 26-24.
Webb had an outstanding match for Clarion with 11 kills and a .458 hitting percentage (11 kills-0 errors-24 attempts). She added three blocks and two digs.
Bartman chipped in with 11 kills, nine digs and a block for the Golden Eagles with
Rhianon Brady adding 21 digs and
Amanda Gough 38 set assists.
Also for Clarion,
Hannah Heeter had eight kills and two blocks and
Aubree Frye seven kills.
Casey Gates led Wheeling (21-3) with 15 kills and Allissa Ware 13 kills.
Clarion returns to action at 7 p.m. Friday when it hosts Gannon in a key PSAC West match.
