CLARION - Four Clarion seniors all played extremely well as the Golden Eagles swept visiting Mercyhurst 3-0 on Senior Day at Tippin Gymnasium.

Amanda Gough,
Kellie Bartman, and
Rhianon Brady all had big statistical days for Clarion.
Anderson and Bartman led the team in kills with 13 and 10 respectively. Assisting in those kills was Gough who contributed 33 assists, leaving her just 58 shy of being the second Clarion player with 4,000 career assists. Brady led the defense with 25 digs and is now 41 shy of setting the school record at Clarion for most digs in a career. Sophomore
Aubree Frye, who will be leaving after this year to study nursing at IUP, started for the Golden Eagles and had eight digs.
Clarion (15-10, 11-4) kept it's offense rolling to cruise to a 25-18 win in the first set. Set two saw Clarion pull away mid way through and come out with a 25-14 victory. Mercyhurst (13-14, 6-9) rallied in the third set, and were one point away from a set victory before Clarion came back and toughed out a 29-27 victory to seal the match.
The Golden Eagle defense once again looked strong as they registered nine blocks, three of which came at the hands of
Rebecca Webb. The team had 65 digs, to Mercyhurst's 53, and also added four service aces to Mercyhurst's one.
Clarion is now 99-19 in Tippin Gymnasium since 2001, 45 of which coming in the past five years under head coach
Jennifer Mills. The Golden Eagles have now won seven consecutive PSAC matches, and seven of their last eight overall. At the time of printing, Clarion is third in the PSAC West, one game behind Gannon and two behind California (Pa.). The Golden Eagles return Tuesday night to play Slippery Rock, who defeated Clarion 3-1 earlier in the year. The match will begin at 7 p.m. inside Tippin Gymnasium.
