(Clarion, Pa.): Clarion's
Kayla Shull (Jr. Franklin/Rocky Grove) was a triple individual event winner , while
Rachel Tano (Jr. Butler/Knoch) and Emilee Gysegem (Warren, Oh/Lakeview) were double winners in leading the Golden Eagle Women's Swimming team to a 176-167 win over Grove City at the W.S. Tippin Natatorium on Saturday. The event was Clarion's 2011-12 season opener.
Shull won the 50 free (24.91), 100 free (53.83) and the 200 free (1:58.82), while
Tano finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.45) and 400 I.M. (4:53.44), with
Gysegem, in her first collegiate performance, won the 200 back (2:11.80) and 200 I.M. (2:14.03).
Also winning individual events were
Courtney Bogue (Sr. Glastonbury, Ct.) and
Lauren Szoszorek (Fr. Erie/McDowell). Bogue took top honors in the 100 backstroke (1:02.05, while Szoszorek won the 500 free (5:30.83).
The 200 medley relay team of Shull, Tano,
Kelsey Slayton (Fr. White Lake, Mi.) and
Anna McNurlan (Fr. Washington/McMurray) won their event with a time of 1:51.25.
Clarion will host Shippensburg on Friday, October 28 starting at 6pm.
