SHIPPENSBURG – The Clarion women's volleyball team got a sweep in PSAC Crossover action Saturday at Shippensburg topping Shippensburg 3-2 and East Stroudsburg 3-0.
The Golden Eagles started the day out with a hard-fought 17-25, 25-22, 11-25, 25-23, 17-15 win over host Shippensburg and then rolled past East Stroudsburg 25-9, 25-21, 25-20.
Against Shippensburg,
Kellie Bartman led Clarion with 17 kills and 23 digs, while
Aubree Frye had 13 kills and 13 digs.
Kaitlyn Anderson chipped in with nine kills and eight digs with
Hannah Heeter adding nine kills and two blocks.
Rebecca Webb had six blocks, seven digs and seven kills.
Amanda Gough set up the offense with 42 set assists while adding 10 digs and five blocks, and
Rhianon Brady had 28 digs.
Carlie Bieranowski led the way against East Stroudsburg with 12 kills and 13 digs, and Anderson added 10 kills.
Corinne Manley chipped in with eight kills and Heeter had seven. Gough had 31 set assists and 10 digs with Brady adding 21 more digs.
Clarion (11-9 overall, 7-4 PSAC West) returns to action at 7 p.m. Friday when it hosts California at Tippin Gym. The match is part of Clarion's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend. The Golden Eagles will be taking donations, raffling off baskets, selling t-shirts and wearing pink uniforms both Friday and Saturday (Noon vs. IUP) with all proceeds going to The Cancer Center at Clarion Hospital.
