Box Score
KUTZTOWN – Senior
Courtney Healy had five blocked shots moving her within one of becoming the fifth player in school history to block 100 in a career, but Clarion went cold from the field in a 72-46 loss at Kutztown in the PSAC opener for both teams Saturday afternoon.
Healy, who had 15 points, three rebounds and two assists to go with her five blocks, now has 99 in her career. Clarion blocked seven shots in a game after blocking none in the season opener Tuesday, just the fifth time in the last 136 games (including Saturday) that Clarion hadn't blocked a shot. The five swats give Healy 99 in her career. She needs one more to become the fifth in school history with 100.
The Golden Eagles (0-2 overall, 0-1 PSAC West), though went from the one-minute mark of the first half to nearly the 14-minute mark of the second half without scoring, as Kutztown (1-2, 1-0 PSAC East) went on a 16-0 run that included 12 straight points to start the second half. That allowed the Golden Bears to turn a 19-18 lead into a 35-18 advantage.
Neither team shot the ball well with Clarion shooting 27.4 percent (17 of 62) for the game and Kutztown 39.4 percent 28 of 71.
