DEIBERT HAS DOUBLE-DOUBLE BUT CLARION FALLS AT WEST CHESTER

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Sophomore forward Ann Deibert recorded her first double-double of the season, but it wasn't enough for Clarion, as the Golden Eagles dropped a 102-68 decision at West Chester Saturday afternoon.
 
Deibert recorded the fourth double-double of her young career with a team-high 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for the Golden Eagles (1-3 overall, 1-2 PSAC West), and senior forward Courtney Healy record a blocked shot to go with seven points. It was the 100th block of her career making her the fifth player in school history with 100 blocks.
 
West Chester, though, raced out to a 61-32 halftime lead thanks to runs of 27-6 and 20-9 in the half.
 
Hannah Heeter, playing in just her second game, had a career-high 13 points and eight rebounds on 5 of 9 shooting, while Emma Fickel also added 13 points while coming away with three steals and hitting three three-pointers. Raven Jones added 11 points, five assists and three steals.
 
Allison Hostetter led West Chester (5-0, 3-0 PSAC East) with 19 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals, Ambreelinne Ortman added 17 points, eight rebounds, Shamyra Hammond chipped in 16 points and Paige Elliott 11 points and four steals.
 
Clarion trailed 10-8 just over five minutes into the game thanks to a three-pointer by Jones, but West Chester scored the next 11 points with Elliott scoring six of them and Hammond five to take a 22-8 lead with just under 12 minutes to play.
 
The Golden Eagles seemed to right the ship with a 6-0 spurt that included four points from Heeter to close back within eight, 22-14, but West Chester answered with a 15-0 steak that saw Hostetter score six of the points to go ahead 37-14 with 7:23 to play.
 
NOTES – Clarion is at Millersville at 1 p.m. Sunday … CThe Golden Eagles shot 34.4 percent (22 of 54) from the field while West Chester shot 48.1 percent (37 of 77) including a hot 53.5 percent (23 of 43) in the first half … Turnovers hurt Clarion, as 32 Golden eagle giveaway – 23 on West Chester steals – led to 48 Golden Ram points including 36 in the first half … Clarion outrebounded West Chester 46-44.
