EAGLE MEN 2ND AT PSAC'S - WARD WINS 100 FREE

FINAL RESULTS

            (Mechanicsburg, Pa.): Clarion University's Joseph Ward won the 100 free on Sunday helping lead the Golden Eagle Men's Swimming team to a strong second place finish at the 53rd PSAC Championships which concluded on Sunday.
 
            Held at Cumberland Valley High School, West Chester won the team title with 686 points, Clarion was second with 567, Edinboro was third with 440 and Shippensburg fourth with 417.5. Seven teams participated.
 
            Ward won his second title at the PSAC's taking the 100 freestyle in a time of 45.01. He earlier won the 50 free.
 
            Ben Appleby meanwhile was third in the 100 free with a time of 46.39, while Casey Dunleavy took 8th in the 100 (48.10).
 
            In the 200 backstroke the Golden Eagles had Derek Nelson place second (2:05.94) and Mark Krchnak third (2:06.49).
 
            Jon Kofmehl earned a fourth place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:53.82), Scott Harvey was 7th in the 1650 (16:37.74), Garet Weston seventh in the 200 back (1:56.58), and Jake Campbell was eighth in  the 200 back (1:57.10).
 
            Finally, the 400 free relay team of Ward, Dunleavy, Kofmehl and Appleby finished second with a time of 3:04.17.
 
 
            Clarion will compete at the NCAA D-II Championships in San Antonio, Texas March 9-12.
