            (San Antonio, Texas):
Clarion University senior diver Logan Pearsall (Port Allegany) placed second min one meter diving and freshman Ethan Merritt (Fr. San Luis Obispo, California) was fourth on the meter board as the Golden Eagles competed on Day three of the NCAA Division II Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in San Antonio, Texas.
 
            Held at the Palo Alto Natatorium, Drury leads the men's competition with 463.5 points, Cal San Diego is second with 254, Wayne State third with 220 and Grand Canyon fourth with 208.5 Clarion 14th with 87 points.
 
            Pearsall narrowly missed winning his fifth national championship finishing second with 500.10 points. Pearsall was locked in a duel with Justin McDonald of Incarnate Word. McDonald scored 503.40 points and won by a mere 3.30 points.
 
            Clarion's Merritt, only a freshman, finished fourth in one meter scoring 482.95 points. Seth Brandenburg (Fr. Canton, Oh.) finished 12th with 415.45 points and Justin Duncan (Jr. South Park) was 16th with 401.85 points.
 
            On Wednesday night Pearsall won his fourth NCAA Title on three meter setting a new NCAA Division II record scoring 565.15 points. , breaking the national record he set last year with 557.50 points. Logan, who is in his third year diving at Clarion, won four of six NCAA National Championship events he has competed. He won both boards last year and was the NCAA Division II  “Diver of the Year”.
 
            Clarion is led by eleventh year head coach Mark VanDyke. The Golden Eagles will continue at the Division II Nationals on Satdarday, Day 4 of the four-day meet. Prelims start each day at 10:30am with finals starting at 6:00 pm Central Time.
 
            CLARION NOTES: Pearsall is one of five NCAA Division II Divers who shares the D-II record with 4 individual titles dating back to 1964… The four other divers with 4 titles are Clarion's Mike Zucca, Clarion's Shawn Colten, Northern Michigan's Dwight Hoffman, and Patrick Tully of So. Conn. State, along with Pearsall.
