COOK LEADS EAGLES TO SPLIT ON FRIDAY

Carlie Cook Posted 5 Hits and 4 RBI's

            (North Myrtle Beach, S.C.): Clarion's Carlie Cook (Sr. Brookville) had five hits and four rbi's in helping the Golden Eagle softball team to a split on Friday in the team's final games of their Spring Trip to South Carolina. Clarion defeated Ohio Valley 3-2 in game one, and lost a tough 8-6, 8-inning game to Charleston in game two.
 
            In Clarion's game one win over Ohio Valley, Carlie Cook posted a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning for the Eagles first run.
 
            In the seventh Clarion put the game away when Nicole Lollo (Sr. Callery/Seneca Valley) doubled and then scored on Cook's double. Cook then scored on a passed ball which proved to be the game's winning run.
 
            Megan Daley (Jr. Pgh./Shaler) was the winning pitcher, tossing a complete game while giving up only two runs on six hits with one strikeout.
 
            In game two the Golden Eagles fell behind 5-0 when Charleston scored 5 runs off starter Erica Burkey (So. New Middletown, Oh.).
 
            Clarion rallied to tie the game with two runs in the fourth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh. Cook hit a two-run homer in the sixth, setting up the Eagles to tie in the seventh. Rebecca Lynch's (Jr. Pgh – Shaler) double in the seventh scored Kirsten Wilcox (Fr. DuBois) with the tying run.
 
            Daley, who pitched six innings in the second game, pitched a scoreless 3rd through 7th innings, but was touched up for three runs in the eighth and took the loss.
 
            Clarion rallied for one run in the eighth when Nicole Lindner (So. Vincention Academy) hit a sac fly that scored Shelia Sheatz (Fr. Cranberry) for the Eagles sixth run. The Eagles could get no closer.
 
            Clarion finished its Spring Trip with a 5-3 record and will next be in action under first year head coach Shintrika Hudson on March 19 when Clarion hosts Point Park.
