Game One Box Score / Game Two Box Score

LOCK HAVEN – The Clarion University softball team was swept in its PSAC Central opening doubleheader Monday losing a pair of games at Lock Haven.
 
The Golden Eagles (5-5 overall, 0-2 PSAC Central) lost 7-1 in Game One and 8-2 in Game Two.
 
In the first game, Clarion struck first in the top of the second when Paige Alexander, who was 3-for-3 with an RBI, singled home Kacie Nemeth, who had led off the inning with a single.
 
But Lock Haven answered back with a run in the bottom of the inning and then broke the tie with two in the fourth before breaking open the game with four in the sixth.
 
Megan Daley took the loss going six inning and allowing seven runs, five earned, on eight hits and seven walks while striking out one.
 
In Game Two, Lock Haven scored six runs in the first two innings on the way to the win.
 
Nicole Linder was 1-for-2 for Clarion with a pair of RBIs with Carlie Cook and Kirsten Wilcox each scored runs while Elizabeth Shiring was 2-for-4.
 
Erica Burkey was the losing pitcher going six innings and allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 12 hits and three walks while striking out two.
 
Clarion returns to action Tuesday when it hosts IUP in a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m.
