Game Two Box Score
INDIANA – Despite a strong first game performance at the plate from
Nicole Lindner, the Clarion University softball team was swept in a PSAC Central doubleheader at IUP Sunday dropping Game One 3-2 and Game Two 9-0 in five innings.

Lindner was 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, a walk and two runs scored in the first game for Clarion, but IUP used a three-run fourth to get the win.

Clarion (6-16 overall, 1-11 PSAC Central) took a 1-0 lead in the second on a solo home run by Lindner, the first of her career.

After IUP put up the three-spot in the fourth, Clarion tried to rally in the seventh.

Lindner and
Kacie Nemeth started the inning with back-to-back doubles to close the gap to 3-2, but a pair of strikeouts and a failed bunt attempt closed off the rally for the Golden Eagles.

Erica Burkey took the loss going six innings and allowing three earned runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out four.

In Game Two, IUP avoided any suspense scoring seven first-inning runs off starter and loser
Megan Daley and then adding a pair of runs off Daley in the second.

Daley went four innings allowing the nine runs, five of them earned, on eight hits and two walks while striking out one.

On offense, Clarion picked up a pair of hits with
Nicole Lollo and
Rebecca Lynch each coming up with base hits. Lollo, who is hitting .368 on the season, also had one of four Clarion hits in the first game. She has hit safely in three straight games and in 17 of 21 games on the year.

The Golden Eagles return to action at 3 p.m. Monday when it hosts Bloomsburg.
