CLARION – Rachelle Wiegand tallied nine kills and 11 digs as the visiting Juniata College Eagles downed Clarion University 3-0 Tuesday night in women's volleyball.
Juniata took the first set 25-17. Clarion battled back but fell short in the second set 25-23. The third and deciding set gave Juniata the victory with a final score of 25-21.
Leading the way for Clarion were sophomore
Hannah Heeter and senior
Kaitlyn Anderson. Heeter led the team with eight kills and five blocks while Anderson contributed seven kills, seven digs and two blocks.

Amanda Gough led the team with 25 assists and added seven digs. Defensively, Clarion was led by Libero
Rhianon Brady who had 18 digs.
Assisting Wiegand for Juniata was Amy Miller who notched seven kills and 14 digs. Courtney Greenberg led either team with 28 assists in the contest. Libby Morrison set the pace for Juniata defensively with 19 digs.
Clarion falls to 4-5 on the year while Juniata improves to 5-2. Up next for Clarion are the PSAC Crossover matches at IUP. Clarion will play teams from the PSAC Eastern Division including Kutztown and Cheyney Friday and West Chester Saturday. The Golden Eagles return to home Sept. 30 as they take on Edinboro. The match is slated to start at 7 p.m. inside Tippin Gymnasium.
