VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO EDINBORO IN FIVE

Clarion fell to Edinboro 3-2 Friday night at Tippin Gymnasium.

Kellie Bartman's 18 kills led Clarion (8-8, 4-3), but ultimately the Golden Eagles fell 3-2 in a thriller at Tippin Gym on Friday night. Bartman finished with seven digs, three blocks, and one assist to compliment her team-leading 18 kills.

CLARION - Kellie Bartman's 18 kills led Clarion (8-8, 4-3), but ultimately the Golden Eagles fell 3-2 in a thriller at Tippin Gym on Friday night.  Bartman finished with seven digs, three blocks, and one assist to compliment her team-leading 18 kills.

The Golden Eagles played a back-and-forth game with the Fighting Scots of Edinboro.  The first set went to Boro with a score of 25-18.  Clarion battled back in set two with a 25-20 victory.  Edinboro took set three 25-20 before Clarion tied it with a score of 25-20 in set four.  The fifth and final set was a race to 15 as Edinboro squeaked out of Tippin with a 15-9 victory giving them a 3-2 win in the match. 

Edinboro (14-3, 6-1) had a nice performance put in by Gina Boothe, who tallied 20 kills, four blocks, and two digs.  Kelcie Hellmer had 10 kills, three blocks, and one dig.  Freshman setter Brittany Centorbi also had a solid performance with 45 assists and seven digs.  

Senior Amanda Gough racked up 47 assists, five digs, and three kills.  Hannah Heeter helped Clarion with 13 kills, two digs, and two blocks.  Defensively for Clarion, Rhianon Brady had 23 digs and Aubree Frye added 14 digs.  

Clarion travels to Millersville for a PSAC Crossover with Millersville and Lock Haven on Oct. 7.  They return home Friday Oct. 14 to take on California for the annual Breast Cancer Awareness match.
