SHULL WINS 100 FREE/EAGLES LOSE AT DUQUESNE

Kayla Shull Won 100 Yard Freestyle


FINAL RESULTS
 
            (Pittsburgh, Pa.): Clarion's Kayla Shull (Jr. Franklin, Rocky Grove) won the 100 yard freestyle, but NCAA D-I Duquesne was too much for the Golden Eagles on Saturday as Duquesne handed Clarion a 140-65 loss at Towers Pool.
 
            Clarion lost its first dual meet of the 2011-12 season and drops to 6-1 overall, while Duquesne raised its record to 6-6.
 
            Shull, won the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 53.03, while placing second in the 50 free with a 24.72 clocking.
 
            Morgan Oberlander (Jr. York/Dallastown) was second in the 1000 freestyle (10:55.41),  Megan Burrows (Sr. Canton, Ohio) placed second in the 500 free (5:21.44), Emilee Gysegem (Fr. Warren, Oh./Lakeview) finished second in the 200 backstroke (2:09.72) and Rachel Tano (Jr. Butler/Knoch) was second in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.33).
 
            The 400 medley and the 200 free relay teams also finished second. The 400 medley team of Courtney Bogue (Sr. Glastonbury, Ct.), Tano, Samantha VanDyke (Jr. Maineville, Oh.) and Tyler Ness (Reading/Gov. Mifflin) swam a time of 4:05.87. The 200 free relay unit of Shull, Gysegem, Burrows and Anna McNurlen (Fr. Washington/McMurray) swam a time of 1:40.99.
 
            Clarion, under 12th year head coach Mark VanDyke, is next in action at Pitt on Saturday, Feb. 4th.
