(Clarion, Pa.): The Clarion University wrestling team heads to Edinboro on Sunday, December 16, for an exciting double dual meet against #10 ranked Northwestern and #20 ranked  Edinboro.

Held at McComb Fieldhouse, Clarion will face Northwestern at 1pm, with the Wildcats and Edinboro squaring off around 3pm. Clarion will then wrestle Edinboro immediately following the conclusion of Edinboro/Northwestern – sometime between 4:30 and 5pm.

The Edinboro match can be heard live on the radio on WWCH-AM 1300 in Clarion, as well as on the internet at redzonemedia.com, with Rich Herman and Bob Bubb calling the action.

“We have always told our team that we want to wrestle the best, and this dual shows our commitment to that philosophy,” said first year Clarion head coach Troy Letters. “We look forward to the opportunity and challenges this meet will present.”

The Golden Eagles are 1-1 in dual meet action, having lost to then #18 Rutgers (26-6), but bounced back to defeat Eastern Michigan 21-10. Last Saturday the Golden Eagles finished second at the 70th Annual PSAC Championships in the ten team field, behind first place Edinboro.

The Golden Eagles will be led by #3 ranked All-American James Fleming (Sr. West Mifflin) at 157-pounds. The senior has a season record of 15-0 and a career record of 107-16. He enters the duals with 33 career  falls and 17 technical falls. The Clarion lineup will likely feature Tyler Fraley (Fr. 5-2; Freehold, n.J) at 125; Joe Waltko (Sr. 9-6; Allison Park) at 133; Sam Sherlock (So. 9-6; West Mifflin) or John Matacic (Fr. 7-4; N.
