Box Score

CLARION – Hannah Heeter recorded her second 20-20 of the season, and Clarion played No. 2 Edinboro tough, but in the end the unbeaten Fighting Scots prevailed 72-60 in PSAC West women's basketball action Saturday night at Tippin Gym.

Heeter, a freshman who entered the game leading the PSAC in rebounding at 11.2 rpg, had 20 points and 22 rebounds to become the third player in school history to record multiple 20-20 double-doubles in a career and the second to do it in one season. It was also her seventh 15-rebound game of the season tying the school record for 15-rebound contests in a season set by Heather Cigich in 2004.

But Edinboro got 22 points, nine rebounds and seven steals from Renee' Brown, 20 points from Kiara Brown, 13 points, nine rebounds, six blocks, four steals and three assists from Samantha Blazetic and eight points, 11 steals, five assists and six rebounds from Raven Metz to run its record to 24-0 and 20-0 in the PSAC West.

Emma Fickel supported Heeter with 18 points, while Raven Jones added eight points and nine assists for Clarion (7-17, 6-14).

Edinboro led by 14, 35-21, at halftime before Clarion pulled within eight, 40-32, early in the second half thanks to seven points from Fickel.

The Fighting Scots answered with an 11-2 run to go back up 17, 51-34, midway through the half before Clarion answered with a 12-2 run of its own fueled by a pair of Fickel three-pointers to get back within seven, 53-46, 8:23 to play.

But another Edinboro run, this time an 11-1 spurt that saw nine of the points come from the free-throw line, put the lead back to 17 with just over six minutes left.

GAME NOTES – Prior to the game, Clarion honored its four seniors – Courtney Healy, Miranda Payne, Joanna Catalano and Amanda Gough … Heeter joins Clarion greats Carlita Jones and Mona Gaffney as the only Golden Eagles with two 20-20 games in school history and Jones as the only one to do it in one season. She is also the fourth player in school history to record multiple 20-rebound games in a career joining Gaffney, who did it three times, and Jones and Heather Cigich, who each did it twice … With the 22 boards, Heeter now has 258 on the season, the second most in school history by a freshman behind only Cheryl Bansek, who had 272 in 1986 … Heeter is also guaranteed to become the first Clarion freshman since Bansek to record a double-double over the course of an entire season, and she is the first Clarion player to have a season double-double since Shay Godwin and Cigich in 2004 … With three three-pointers in the game, Fickel now has 60 on the season. She is the fourth player in school history with at least two seasons of 60 or more three-pointers.
