NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Clarion University softball team evened its record with a pair of wins Tuesday in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The Golden Eagles (2-2) topped Concord 11-2 in five innings in Game One then shutout Suffolk University 5-0 in Game Two.
In Game One,
Taylor Sherry was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs while
Rebecca Lynch was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs and
Elizabeth Shiring was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Megan Daley picked up the win pitching four innings and allowing two runs on five hits and a walk.
Julie Sokol pitched an inning of scoreless relief.
The Golden Eagles used a 6-run fifth inning to break open the game.
Then in Game Two, Sokol threw a three-hit shutout, the first for the freshman. She walked three and struck out five.
Shiring led the offense going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Sherry was 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs.
Clarion returns to action with a pair of games Wednesday morning. The Golden Eagles take Arcadia at 9 a.m. and Robert Morris (Ill.) at 11:30 a.m.
