GOUGH, WILCOX STRONG BUT CLARION DROPS DH AT SETON HILL

Kirsten Wilcox had a pair of doubles Thursday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GREENSBURG – Amanda Gough had three hits, a run scored and an RBI and Kirsten Wilcox had two doubles in two games Thursday at Seton Hill, but the Clarion University softball team lost by scores of 4-1 and 5-3.
 
In Game One, Clarion (6-6) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Sara Clark walked leading off the inning, Wilcox doubled and Gough doubled home Clark.
 
But Seton Hill scored twice in the bottom of the inning and then added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth.
 
Gough was 2-for-3 with the RBI to lead the Golden Eagles, while Elizabeth Shiring was 2-for-4. Chelsea Zola took the loss going six innings and allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits and a walk. She struck out one.
 
In Game Two, Seton Hill raced out to a 3-0 lead at the end of one inning and then added a run in the second to go up 4-0.
 
Clarion answered with a run in the third as Wilcox doubled with two outs scoring Rebecca Lynch, who had reached on a fielder's choice.
 
Seton Hill got the run back in the bottom of the inning to go ahead 5-1 before the Golden Eagles mounted a charge in the fifth.
 
Gough singled leading off the inning and Shawnna Crago and Shiring each reached on errors. Lynch then drove home Gough and Crago with a two-run double. But with the tying run on second and no outs, Seton Hill was able to get out of the jam.
 
Gough was 1-for-3 with a run scored, Wilcox was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Lynch was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
 
Megan Daley took the loss going six innings and allowing five runs, all earned, on nine hits and a walk while striking out two.
 
Clarion returns to action Saturday with a pair of games at Mercyhurst.
