Box Score 2 CLARION, Pa. – The Clarion University softball team had four different players record a two-hit game during Friday's PSAC Central doubleheader with IUP, but the Golden Eagles dropped both games losing 10-0 in five innings in Game One and 5-0 in Game Two.
In the first game,
Kacie Nemeth and
Elizabeth Shiring each went 2-for-2 for Clarion (7-19 overall, 0-6 PSAC Central) but defending Atlantic Region champion IUP scored two runs in the first and third innings and three in the second and fourth to get the win.
Julie Sokol took the loss for Clarion going five innings and allowing all 10 runs, nine earned, on nine hits and five walks while striking out five.
The second game saw
Rebecca Lynch and
Taylor Sherry each go 2-for-3 with Sherry hitting a double and a single and Lynch two singles. But the Crimson Hawks scored once in the third and then added two unearned runs in the fifth and two more unearned runs in the sixth to get the victory.
Megan Daley took the loss going seven innings and allowing five runs, only one earned, on five hits and two walks while striking out four.
Clarion returns to action with a PSAC Central road doubleheader at Bloomsburg Saturday before hosting Salem International Monday. Monday's game starts Breast Cancer Awareness Week for the Golden Eagles, who are raising money for The Cancer Center at Clarion Hospital. T-shirts will be sold at the game (one for $12 and two for $20) along with raffle tickets for a Vera Bradley duffle bag and Sheetz, Applebee's and Starbucks gift cards.
