GOUGH THREE HITS NOT ENOUGH AS SOFTBALL FALLS AT BLOOMSBURG

Amanda Gough had three hits in the two games Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Amanda Gough recorded three hits in a doubleheader at Bloomsburg Saturday, but the Clarion University softball team lost both games to the Huskies.
 
Bloomsburg (24-8 overall, 6-2 PSAC Central) used five-run innings in both games to get the sweep. The Huskies used a five-run sixth in Game One to win 8-0 in six innings then put up a five-spot in the sixth inning of Game Two to break a 1-all tie and get a 6-1 victory.
 
Gough was1-for-3 in Game One then went 2-for-3 in Game Two for Clarion (7-21, 0-8), which got its lone run of the day in the third inning of Game Two when Rebecca Lynch doubled and scored on a Kacie Nemeth fielder's choice that tied the game at one. Lynch was 1-for-3 in the contest as was Taylor Sherry.
 
Chelsea Zola started and took the loss in Game One throwing five-plus innings and allowing five runs, four earned, on 10 hits. She struck out one. Megan Daley threw one hitless inning allowing one unearned run while walking one.
 
Lynch joined Gough in having a multiple hit day, as she was also 1-for-3 in Game One. Sara Clark and Elizabeth Shiring also added hits in the opener.
 
Shawnna Crago took the Game One loss going five-plus innings allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 11 hits and a walk while striking out four.
 
Clarion returns to action with a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader with Salem International Monday. It is the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Week for the Golden Eagles, who will also host Slippery Rock Tuesday (2:30 p.m.), Mansfield Friday (2:30 p.m.) and Lock Haven Saturday (1 p.m.). For Breast Cancer Awareness Week the team will be selling t-shirts (1 for $12; 2 for $20) and raffle tickets for a Vera Bradley duffle bag and gift certificates to Applebee's, Sheetz and Starbucks (1 ticket for $1; arm length for $5) with the raffle drawing coming between games Friday. All money raised will be donated to The Cancer Center at Clarion Hospital.
