Box Score 2 BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Despite strong performances in two matches from
Hannah Heeter,
Carlie Bieranowski,
Laura Subject and
Rebecca Ferragonio, the Clarion University women's volleyball team lost two tough matches Saturday at the Ferris State Invitational.
The Golden Eagles dropped a 3-1 decision to Minnesota-Crookston (25-18, 22-25, 22-25, 21-25) and then fell 3-1 to the host Ferris State (25-17, 25-27, 19-25, 19-25).
Heeter had 29 kills, 15 digs and six blocks in the two matches including 17 kills, 11 digs and two blocks vs. Ferris State. Bieranowski added 18 kills and 21 digs and had a double-double as well vs. Ferris State with 11 kills and 15 digs, while Subject had 68 set assists and 33 digs after recording 40 assists and 18 digs vs. Ferris State and 28 assists and 15 digs vs. Minnesota-Crookston. Ferragonio led the defense with 42 digs including 28 vs. the hosts.
Also with solid play Saturday for Clarion were
Rebecca Webb and
Amber Litwiler. Webb had 10 kills, three digs and three blocks vs. Minnesota-Crookston, while Litwiler recorded her first career double-double vs. Ferris State with 12 kills and 12 digs.
Clarion is off until Friday when they host a pair of matches at the Tony Banner Invitational. The Golden Eagles face Shepherd at 12:30 p.m. and American International at 7:30 p.m.
