Rebecca Webb and
Carlie Bieranowski combined for 21 kills to lead the Clarion University women's volleyball team to a straight set 3-0 win over Charleston (W. Va.) at the PSAC-WVIAC Challenge at IUP Friday.
Webb led Clarion's offense with 11 kills while adding three blocks, and Bieranowski had a solid all-around game with 10 kills and nine digs.
Emily Stewart added eight kills and five digs for the Golden Eagles (7-2), while
Rebecca Ferragonio chipped in with 15 digs.
Laura Subject had 37 set assists, three aces and six digs.
In the first set, Clarion used an 11-3 run to break open a 7-all tie on its way to a 25-17 win. Then in the second set, the Golden Eagles scored the first 13 points while cruising to a 25-15 victory before a 16-5 run in the third set broke open a two-point lead, 8-6, and gave Clarion a 25-14 win for the match.
The Golden Eagles return to action Saturday with a pair of matches at the Challenge at IUP. Clarion takes on Alderson-Broaddus at 9 a.m. and West Virginia Wesleyan at 5 p.m.
