Box Score CLARION, Pa. – Despite a game-high 14 points from
Leisha Crawford, the Clarion University women's basketball team couldn't overcome a cold shooting night falling to visiting Gannon, the 10
th ranked team in the country, 68-47, Saturday at Tippin Gym.
Clarion shot 22.9 percent (11 of 48) for the game including 3 of 25 (12 percent) in the first half. The cold shooting half saw Clarion trailing 35-19 at the break. First-half free-throw shooting helped keep Clarion close, as the Golden Eagles were 12 of 13 from the line in the first half and 23 of 28 for the game.
Crawford his all nine of her charity shots and also had four rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Hannah Heeter added seven points, 10 rebounds and two steals before fouling out with about seven minutes to play. It was her 12
th double-digit rebounding game of the season.
Tania Holmes and
Aleya Miller each added seven points and four rebounds for Clarion.
Nettie Blake led Gannon with 13 points and nine rebounds. Jen Papich, Mollie Sebald and Kelsey McCoy each scored nine points for the Lady Knights, who had 11 players play at least 11 minutes.
Clarion returns to action at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at California.
