VOLLEYBALL TOPS EAST STROUDSBURG; CHEYNEY

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Clarion University women's volleyball team ran its winning streak to seven games with a pair of PSAC Crossover wins at East Stroudsburg Friday.
 
The Golden Eagles (21-1 overall, 10-1 PSAC West) beat host East Stroudsburg 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-17) in the morning then used its second stringers in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-15) win over Cheyney.
 
Against East Stroudsburg, Clarion used a balanced effort on offense and defense to get the victory.
 
Emily Stewart led the way with nine kills while hitting .350 (9 kills, 2 errors, 20 attempts) and adding 10 digs. Hannah Heeter chipped in seven kills, hit .353 (7-1-17) and three blocks, Carlie Bieranowski added six kills while hitting .353 (6-0-17) and recording 10 digs. Corinne Manley also had five kills and hit .625 (5-0-8) with a pair of blocks.
 
Laura Subject ran the offense with 27 set assists, while Morgan Seybold had 14 digs.
 
Against Cheyney, freshman Victoria Evans had 14 kills, five aces and four digs, while Jocelyn Uchic added 11 kills, four aces, three digs and a block while hitting .476 (11-1-21). Mackenzie Biggs chipped in six kills and a block and Laura Duncan had five kills.
 
Kaley Pittsley, a freshman, ran the offense with 30 set assists and eight digs.
 
As a team, Clarion had 15 service aces in the win over the Wolves.
 
Clarion returns to action with a pair of PSAC Crossover matches at Kutztown Saturday. The Golden Eagles face Kutztown and West Chester.
