STEWART HELPS CLARION RALLY PAST IUP

Emily Stewart had 26 kills, 13 digs

INDIANA, Pa. – Behind 26 kills and 13 digs from Emily Stewart, visiting Clarion rallied past upset-minded IUP for a 3-2 victory in PSAC West volleyball action Tuesday night in Indiana.
 
The Golden Eagles (16-1 overall, 6-1 PSAC West) took the first set 25-20 before IUP (4-14, 1-6) took the next two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-21 to take a 2-1 lead. Clarion, though, rallied to force a fifth-and-deciding set by taking the fourth set 25-13 and then won the match with a 15-9 decision in the final set.
 
Stewart had a monster game hitting .375 (26 kills, 5 errors, 56 attempts) while also adding a service ace. Hannah Heeter was also in double digits in kills with 14 while hitting .290 (14-5-31) and added four digs and two blocks. Carlie Bieranowski chipped in nine kills and six digs with Corinne Manley adding eight kills.
 
Laura Subject had 56 set assists and 15 digs with Morgan Seybold leading the defense with 28 digs.
 
Elizabeth Sova led IUP with 15 kills.
 
Clarion returns to action at 7 p.m. Friday at Mercyhurst.
