Box Score CLARION, Pa. – After a tight first two sets, the Clarion University women's volleyball team bounced back in the third and fourth sets to defeat Seton Hill 3-1 Friday night at Tippin Gym.

"I think we did some really good things today," said Clarion head coach Jennifer Mills.  "When we were on tonight, we were on and we fired on all cylinders."

In the first set, Clarion trailed 24-23 before taking the final three points to close out the set 26-24.  Seton Hill won the second set 25-17 before the Golden Eagles closed out the match winning the third and fourth sets 25-12 and 25-13.

"I like the way we responded in the third and fourth sets," said Mills.  "It's what we really needed at the time.  Jocelyn came in and gave Carlie a break and she came in and did exactly what we needed her to do."

Emily Stewart led the way for the Golden Eagles with 17 kills and 13 digs.  Carlie Bieranowski finished with14 kills and six digs while Corinne Manley finished with 10 kills.

Laura Subject set up the offense with 53 set assists to go along with 14 digs while Morgan Seybold chipped in nicely with 27 digs to lead the Golden Eagles.

In the first set, neither team led by more than three points.  Seton Hill led 24-23 when Hannah Heeter was able to come up with a kill to tie it at 24.  Lauren Magalski followed that up with a service ace before Bieranowski closed the set with a kill.

In the second set, Seton Hill (24-6, 12-4 PSAC West) took control early.  The Griffins used a 10-2 run to lead 20-10 in the set.  Clarion then made things interesting by going on a 6-1 run to cut the lead to 21-16 but Seton Hill won four of the next five points to close out the set.

Clarion led 6-5 in the third set before going on a 14-5 run to take a 20-10 lead. The Golden Eagles closed out the set winning five of the next seven points to take a two to one sets lead.

"We made a couple of adjustments to defend the tip," said Mills.  "It was something we weren't able to pick up in the first two sets."

In the fourth set, the Golden Eagles led the entire way.  Clarion took an early 8-3 lead which forced Seton Hill to take a timeout.  The Golden Eagles then went on a 10-2 run to take an 18-5 lead before closing out the match 25-13.

With the win, Clarion improves to 26-2 overall and 15-1 in the PSAC West.
