CLARION 2-2 AT EMU DUALS/ARTHUR & PAVASKO 4-0
 
                (Ypsilanti, Michigan): Clarion opened the dual meet season with a 2-2 showing at the Eastern Michigan duals on Saturday at Bowen Fieldhouse on the campus of EMU, while freshmen Justin Arthur (Huntington, W.V.) and Michael Pavasko (Fr. Munhall/Steel Valley) was an impressive 4-0 to lead the Golden Eagles.
 
                Clarion opened the duals with a 34-3 win over Campbellsville (Ky.), then defeated Tiffin (43-6), before dropping decisions to Northern Illinois (21-15) and Eastern Michigan 26-15.
 
                Freshman 149-pounder Justin Arthur posted an impressive 4-0 record today winning three matches by fall and one by major decision. Ranked #18 in the nation at 149 by AWN and Intermat, he has a record of 11-1 this season. Pavasko posted four decisions to notch his 4-0 record.
 
                Also posting a 3-1 record on Saturday were Jonathan Mele (Fr. Berkely Hts., N.J.) at 125, Austin Matthews (Fr. Greenville/Reynolds) at 157 and Daniel Sutherland (Jr. N. Bellmore, N.Y.) at 184.
 
                Clarion opened with a 34-3 win over Campbellsville. The Golden Eagles won 9 of 10 bouts including  a fall from Evan Daley(FR. Erie/Fort LeBoeuf)  at 285 and major decisions from Sam Sherlock (Jr. West Mifflin) at 133 and Austin Matthews at 157.
 
                Clarion also defeated Tiffin 43-6 with pins from Tyler Bedelyon (Sr. Lewistown) at 141, Arthur at 149, Ryan Darch (Jr. Batavia, N.Y.) at 174 and Daniel Sutherland at 184.
 
                In losing 21-15 to NIU, Clarion received pins from Arthur and wins from Mele at 125, Pavasko at 165 and Sutherland at 184. Sutherland's win actually gave Clarion a 15-12 lead, but that didn't hold up.
 
                Against EMU in the final dual, Emu jumped out to an 11-0 lead before Clarion bounced back to take a 12-11 advantage on pins from Arthur and Matthews. Mike Pavasko's decision gave the Golden Eagles a 15-11 lead, but Emu won out to take a 26-15 victory.
 
                Clarion will host Rutgers at Tippin Gymnasium on Friday, November 22 at 7pm.
