Box Score SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – With a 3-0 win over Slippery Rock Saturday at Slippery Rock's Morrow Field House combined with a 3-2 California loss at Gannon Saturday night, the Clarion University women's volleyball team clinched its second PSAC West title in school history.
Clarion (31-3 overall, 20-2 PSAC West) won by scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-18. The Golden Eagles are PSAC West champions for the first time since 2010 and will host Gannon in the opening round of the PSAC Playoffs at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tippin Gym. It will be a Blue Out.

Emily Stewart, who had seven kills and nine blocks Saturday, said. "I'm proud of my team for the accomplishment, everything we have accomplished. It definitely adds something good to my last season of volleyball."
On Saturday, the Golden Eagles got 16 kills from
Carlie Bieranowski, who hit .395 (16 kills, 1 error, 38 attempts). She added three digs and two blocks.
Hannah Heeter had seven kills, hit .353 (7-1-17) and added four blocks and four digs, and
Corinne Manley chipped in with six kills while hitting .308 (6-2-13).
Laura Subject ran the offense smoothly with 36 set assists and added five kills on six attempts and also contributed 13 digs and a pair of service aces.
Morgan Seybold had 28 digs, and
Kelly Shannon added seven blocks and four kills.
"We all work together so well no matter who is on the court," Stewart said. "We always collaborate really well together. It's not one person, it's never one person. It's a team effort. That is what it will take for us to go deep in the postseason."
Caroline Houston paced Slippery Rock with nine kills and 19 digs.
In the first set, Clarion jumped out to a 14-4 lead behind two kills each from Bieranowski and Stewart and never looked back on its way to the 25-19 victory.
It was a quick start again in the second set that paced the Golden Eagles with Clarion jumping out to an 11-4 lead thanks to three kills by Bieranowski and two apiece from Shannon and Manley.
The third set was closer for a while with Slippery Rock trailing by just a point, 13-12, before a 7-1 Clarion but the set and the match on ice. Manley had two kills during the run and Heeter, Bieranowski and Subject had one each.
NOTES – The 31 regular-season wins ties for the most regular-season wins in school history with the 2002 team. The 31 wins are also tied with 2002 for the second most overall wins in school history with the 2010 team leading the way with a school-record 32 victories … Clarion's other PSAC West title game in 2010 when the Golden Eagles also won the PSAC and NCAA Division II Atlantic Region titles while advancing to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight for the first time in school history. A PSAC Title was also won by Clarion in 1988.
