CLARION WOMEN'S SWIMMERS LOSE AT CMU 186.5 – 111.5
FINAL RESULTS
(Pittsburgh, Pa.): Clarion's
Emilee Gysegem (Jr. Warren, Oh.) won three individual events and and
Gabriella Schaffer (So. Reading/Muhlenberg) won two events on Saturday but Carnegie Mellon topped the Golden Eagles 186.5 – 111.5 in women's swimming and diving.
The loss drops Clarion's record to 0-2.
Gysegem had another terrific day in the pool. She won the 100 yard breaststroke (1:08.16), the 200 breaststroke (2:27.78) and the 200 I.M. (2:11.59). In Clarion's opener two weeks ago, she won 5 individual events.
Schaffer, in her opening competition of the year, won the 100 yard backstroke (59.67) and the 200 backstroke (2:09.32).
Also winning an individual event was diver
Caitlyn Kaufman (So. Butler). She won the 1 meter diving with a score of 211.35.
Clarion's other win came in the 200 medley relay on a time of 1:49.23. The team included
Schaffer, Gysegem, Kelsey Slayton (Jr. White Lake, Mi.) and Anna McNurlen (Jr. Washington/McGuffey).
The Clarion swimmers are off until Dec. 6-8 when they compete at the Zippy Invitational in Akron, Ohio. The divers will compete at Youngstown State on Nov. 9.
