CLARION WRESTLERS HOST #25 RIDER SATURDAY AT 6PM
 
                The EWL (Eastern Wrestling League) dual meet season continues for Clarion on Saturday, December 22 when the Golden Eagles host #25 ranked Rider at Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium. Match time is set for 6pm and tickets will be available at the door.
 
                Redbank Valley High School will wrestle Sharon on Saturday in a dual meet starting at 4pm at Clarion's Tippin Gym.
 
                The Clarion - Rider match can be heard live on the radio on WCCR-FM, 92.7 in Clarion, as well as on the internet at redzonemedia.com, with Rich Herman and Bob Bubb calling the action.
 
                Clarion, under second year head coach Troy Letters,  enters the dual meet with a 4-5 overall record and an 0-1 mark in the EWL. The extremely young Golden Eagles, who have six freshmen in their lineup, opened the season with a 2-2 mark at the Eastern Michigan duals having defeated Campbellsville (34-3) and Tiffin (43-6), while losing to Northern Illinois (21-15) and EMU 26-15. The home dual season opened on Nov. 22nd with a 30-12 loss to Rutgers, then at the Journeyman Northeast Duals Clarion lost a 21-13 decision to #11 Virginia and rebounded for wins against Columbia (20-16) and Buffalo (34-7). On December 7th Clarion was fourth at the PSAC Championships, while on Sunday the Eagles lost their EWL opener to Edinboro by a score of 40-3.
 
                Rider, led by 36th year head coach Gary Taylor, has the Broncs entering Saturday with a 5-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark in the EWL. Rider will wrestle at Edinboro on Saturday at 1pm, then travel to Clarion for its second dual of the day. Rider opened its dual season with wins over Old Dominion (20-12), Kent State (18-14) and Chattanooga (19-17), lost at home to #1 Penn State 34-8, then defeated Lock Haven (23-12) and Binghamton (29-6). Taylor currently has a career record of 395-222-4.

Jefferson/Jeffrerson Morgan) at 184, Daniel Sutherland (4-6; Jr. North Bellmore, N.y.) or  Brandon Contreras (4-9; Sr. Rochester, N.Y.) at 197 and Evan Daley (10-8; Fr. Erie/Fort LeBoeuf) at 285.
 
                The Rider lineup includes #18 Robert Duetsch (8-2) at 125, Chuck Zeisloft (7-4) at 133, Paul Kirchner (5-5) at 141, Curt Delia (5-5) at 149, Wayne Stinson (2-7) at 157, #12 Ramon Santiago (7-3) at 165, Conor Brennan (8-4) or jim Resnick (0-0) at 174, Clint Morrison (4-2) or Resnick at 184, Don McNeil (7-3) at 197 and Greg Velasco (3-6) at heavyweight.
 
                CLARION NOTES:  Rider leads the series history with the two schools 11-2 … Rider won the last dual meet in 2011 by a 22-18 margin … Clarion's last win vs Rider was in 2003 by a 21-15 margin… Rider has won 8 straight against the Golden Eagles… clarion will be off until Sunday, Jan. 12 at the Pitt Duals.
