Box Score 2 MANSFIELD, Pa. – Mansfield used a couple of big early innings to sweep a PSAC Central-opening softball doubleheader from visiting Clarion Saturday afternoon taking Game One 7-2 and Game Two 9-2.
 
In the first game, it was a five-run first inning that paced the Mountaineers to a 7-2 victory.
 
Clarion scored runs in the second and seventh innings, as 
Nicole Lindner smacked her second career home run in the top of the second and 
Amanda Gough scored on an error in the seventh after singling and moving to second on a passed ball.
 
Mansfield also scored two runs in the fourth.
 
The Golden Eagles had five hits in the game 
Megan Anderson, 
Christina Tressler and 
Lydia Middaugh joining Lindner and Gough with Anderson and Tressler each doubling.
 
Julie Sokol took the loss going four innings and allowing seven runs, five earned, on seven hits and two walks while striking out two. 
Chelsea Zola pitched two innings of scoreless relief allowing one hit and striking out one.  
 
In the nightcap, Mansfield broke open a 2-1 game with six-run second inning.
 
The Mountaineers scored first with two in the bottom of the first before Clarion answered with a run in the top of the second when Lindner singled with one out, went to third on a single by 
Kacie Nemeth and scored on a Tressler single.
 
After Mansfield went ahead 8-1 with the six-run second, the Golden Eagles got a run back in the fourth when Lindner singled with one out, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a Nemeth RBI single.
 
Mansfield picked that run back up in the fifth.
 
Lindner was 2-for-3 in the game with two runs scored, while Nemeth was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
 
Jessica Rohaus took the loss going four innings allowing eight runs on 13 hits and two walks while striking out two. Zola finished up going two innings allowing one earned run on four hits and two walks.
Clarion (3-5, 0-2 PSAC Central) is scheduled to return to action at with a home-opening PSAC Central doubleheader with Lock Haven starting at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
