SOFTBALL DROPS CLOSE DH AT SLIPPERY ROCK

Kacie Nemeth had three hits on the afternoon for the Golden Eagles

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Clarion University softball team dropped a pair of close games Wednesday afternoon at Slippery Rock.
 
In Game one, Clarion jumped out to an early 2-0 nothing lead in the top of the second inning. 
 
Elizabeth Shiring drove in Amanda Gough on an RBI single.  Later in the inning, Taylor Powell scored on a fielder choice by Taylor Sherry
 
Slippery Rock didn't get on the board until the bottom half of the seventh inning where it was able to get an RBI single and a sacrifice fly by Kasier to tie the game at two.
 
Neither team was able to push a run across in the eighth inning.  But in the ninth, Slippery Rock was able to win the game on a walk-off single by Kaiser to give them the 3-2 win.
 
Kacie Nemeth, Sherry, and Gough all picked up two hits for the Golden Eagles.  Kayla Henderson, Nicole Lindner, Shiring, and Powell all added a hit each.
 
Jessica Rohaus pitched the entire game for Clarion.  She went 8.1 innings while giving up 12 hits, three runs, three walks, and struck out seven.
 
Knight picked up the win for The Rock.  She went all nine innings while giving up 10 hits, four walks, two runs, and struck out 13 Golden Eagle batters.
 
In game two, Slippery Rock picked up their first run in the bottom of the second inning.  The Golden Eagles were able to tie the game in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI single by Gough driving in Kirsten Wilcox.
 
Slippery Rock (13-15) added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 2-1 lead.  Clarion was able to do any damage in the seventh inning and dropped game two 2-1.
 
Chelsea Zola took the loss for Clarion while giving up two runs and six hits in her six innings of work. 
 
Lindner was able to pick up two hits in the night cap while Megan Anderson, Wilcox, Gough, Nemeth, and Shiring all added a hit each.
 
Clarion (3-17) returns to the field Friday afternoon in a home doubleheader vs. Mansfield beginning at 2:30 pm.
