Box Score 2 BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Clarion University softball team finished out its 2013 season with a pair of PSAC Central losses at Bloomsburg Friday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles dropped Game One 10-0 in five innings and Game Two 10-1 in six innings.
The day, for Clarion, was highlighted by freshman
Christina Tressler knocking her first career home run leading off the fifth inning of Game Two.
Tressler blast was one of three hits on the day for the Golden Eagles and one of two for Tressler, who also had a single in Game One. Junior
Nicole Lindner added a double leading off Game One for Clarion and finished the year as Clarion's top hitter at .367, the seventh-best batting average at Clarion since 1993.
Also hitting over .350 for the Golden Eagles this year was senior shortstop
Amanda Gough, who finished the campaign at .357 with a team-leading nine doubles and 15 RBIs. She also tied with Lindner and senior
Kacie Nemeth for the team-lead with two home runs. Gough's .357 average was the ninth highest at Clarion since 1993, while the 15 RBIs tied for the 10
th most at Clarion since 1993.
In Game One, Bloomsburg did all of its damage in the first three innings scoring five in the first, three in the second and two in the third.
Julie Sokol took the loss allowing the 10 runs, seven earned, on 11 hits and walk while striking out one in three innings of work.
Chelsea Zola threw a perfect inning of scoreless relief.
The second game saw Bloomsburg three runs in the second and fourth innings, solo runs in the third and fifth and two in the sixth to end the contest.
Jessica Rohaus took the loss allowing all 10 runs, all earned, on 14 hits in five innings of work.
Clarion finished the year 4-26 overall and 0-16 in the PSAC West.
