The Clarion University women's volleyball team ran its record to 10-0 with a 3-0 sweep of Notre Dame (Ohio) College at a Regional Crossover at Mercyhurst Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles, who are 10-0 for just the third time in school history, made quick work of Falcons winning by scores of 25-14, 25-20 and 25-17.
Carlie Bieranowski led the charge on offense with 15 kills while adding six digs and a block.
Emily Stewart also reached double-digit kills with 11 and matched Bieranowski with six digs and a block.
Corinne Manley had an all-around solid match as well with nine kills, two aces, two digs and two blocks, and
Hannah Heeter chipped in five kills and three blocks.
Clarion's defense was once again outstanding limiting Notre Dame to a .076 hitting percentage (23 kills, 15 errors, 105 attempts).
Morgan Seybold paced the defense with 17 digs, while
Laura Subject added 13 digs and ran the offense efficiently with 39 set assists. She added a pair of kills and a pair of aces.
The Golden Eagles return to action Friday when they face Lock Haven in a PSAC Crossover at California. It's the start of conference play for Clarion, who was picked to finish second in the PSAC West in a preseason coaches' poll. The Golden Eagles will also face new PSAC member Pitt-Johnstown Friday at Cal before taking on Shippensburg and Millersville Saturday at Cal. It's Clarion's second trip to Cal this season, as the Golden Eagles went 3-0 at the California Tournament last weekend.
