LAVERY NAMED WGCA ALL-AMERICAN SCHOLAR FOR 2013
(Coral Springs, Florida): Clarion University women's golfer
Kayla Lavery (Sr. Waterford/Fort LeBoeuf) was recently named as a (WGCA) Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar for the 2012-13 season.
To be named to this award in NCAA Divisions I, II, III or NAIA, a golfer must be a starter and also carry a minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher.
"We are very ex cited and proud of Kayla for receiving this award from the WGCA," said Clarion Women's coach
Marie Gritzer, who begins her 6
th year leading the program in 2013-14. "She is an outstanding student and athlete at Clarion and we are proud of her accomplishments."
A Speech Pathology major at Clarion, Lavery has a cumulative grade point average of 3.539.
A three-year starter for the Golden Eagles, Lavery played in 10 rounds a year ago (2012-13) and carried a stroke average of 94.1. Her lowest score was a 90 at the Mercyhurst Invitational, while she placed 27
th at the PSAC Championships with a pair of 93's.
In 2011-12 Lavery played in 14 rounds and averaged 94.2 strokes per round. She had a low score of 85 at the Mercyhurst Invite and placed 28
th at the PSAC's with scores of 91 and 99.
As a freshman in 2010-11 Kayla played 16 rounds and averaged 98.1. Her low round was an 89 at Mercyhurst and she placed 25
th at PSAC's with scores of 95 and 92.
A PSAC and Clarion University Scholar Athlete, Lavery is the daughter of Bill and Cheryl Lavery of Wateford, Pa.
