CLARION WOMEN'S SWIMMERS DROP 146-143/GYSEGEM TRIPLE WINNER
(Clarion, Pa.): Clarion junior breaststroke specialist
Emilee Gysegem (Jr. Warren, Oh./Lakeview) was a triple winner and sophomore backstroke specialist
Gabriella Schaffer (So. Reading) and diver
Sarah Zerfoss (So. Shavertown) were double winners, but the Golden Eagles lost a 146-143 dual meet to Edinboro on Saturday in Women's Swimming and Diving.
Held at Waldo S. Tippin Natatorium on Senior Day, the Golden Eagles dropped to 0-3 overall while Edinboro raised its record to 9-0.
Gysegem won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.42, the 200 breaststroke (2:25.04) and the 200 I.M. (2:10.25).
Schaffer meanwhile won the 100 backstroke (58.69) and the 200 backstroke (2:08.16)
Also winning a swim event was
Emily Ondrizek (So. Gettysburg) in the 50 free (25.19).
Zerfoss won both diving events, taking the 1 meter with 246.05 points and the 3 meter with 269.80 points.
Clarion also won both relays. Clarion's Schaffer, Gysegem,
Kelsey Slayton (Jr. White Lake, Mi.) and
Anna McNurlen (Jr. Washington/McGuffey) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.94. Also
Emily Wadlinger (So. Lebanon, N.H.),
Tyler Ness (Sr. Reading/Gov. Mifflin), McNurlen and Ondrizek won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:40.79.
Clarion will dive at Pitt on January 31 and then swim in the Pitt Invite on Feb. 1.
