DESPITE FOUR PLAYERS IN DOUBLE FIGURES MEN'S BBALL FALLS TO WEST CHESTER

BJ Andrews had a career-best 18 points

Box Score CLARION, Pa. – Despite four players scoring in double figures, the Clarion University men's basketball team dropped a 77-65 decision to visiting West Chester Wednesday night at Tippin Gym.
 
Freshman BJ Andrews netted a season-high 18 points to go with a season-best six rebounds to lead Clarion (2-9), while DeMarius Miller recorded his eighth straight double-figure game with 14 points while also grabbing four rebounds. Aaron Johnson added 10 points and seven rebounds with Marques Jones also scoring 10 points to go with four assists in just 23 minutes because of foul trouble.
 
West Chester (10-4) also had four players reach double figures led by 16 points from Troy Hockaday. Cory Blake added 14 points and nine rebounds, while Shannon Givens had 13 points and Eric Frans 10 points and five rebounds. Matt Wisely just missed a double-double finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds to go with three steals.
 
The game was tied at 59 with 6:43 to play after two Johnson free throws for Clarion, but West Chester went on a 14-3 run led by six points from Blake and four from Givens to take a 73-62 lead with 2:16 left.
 
Prior to the run, Clarion had played a solid second half erasing a six-point, 39-33, halftime deficit and a 12-point, 49-37, hole four minutes into the second half.
 
A 16-3 Clarion run led by seven points from Miller and five from Andrews gave Clarion its first lead since late in the first half, 53-52.
 
The Golden Eagles return to action at 7:30 p.m. Saturday when they host Gannon in a PSAC West game.
