CLARION, Pa.- The Clarion soccer team fell 3-0 Wednesday night to the East Stroudsburg Warriors at Clarion's Memorial Stadium.
               All three goals for East Stroudsburg came in the first half. Sammi Jo Hughes scored the first two ESU goals in the fifth and 29
th minutes of the game. Hughes added an assist in the third ESU goal scored by Sammi Ortiz not too long after in the 31
st minute.
               Clarion in the game was outshot by the Warriors 44-5. East Stroudsburg had ball control for most of the game. Clarion did get three shots on goal in the ball game. Those shots came off the feet of
Anna Chamberlin,
Stephanie Sikora, and
Katie Chambers.
               In net
Laura Saussol stopped 17 of the 20 shots on goal she faced. Â Jules Harris for East Stroudsburg stopped all three Clarion shots on goal, earning herself a victory and shutout.
               "I think that the leadership of the team has been consistent and strong," said Clarion Head Coach
Sean Esterhuizen after the match. "Our season is not over yet. I really feel like we can use this kind of a game to take into the next one. It's not impossible for us to go on a streak and get the points that we need to make playoffs, and that's what we're aiming for."
        The sixth ranked East Stroudsburg Warriors increased their record with the victory to 9-1 overall, while the Golden Eagles dropped to 3-7-1. The Golden Eagles next take the pitch on Saturday with a matchup with the West Chester Golden Rams. Clarion returns to Memorial Stadium next Wednesday night at 6 p.m. when they face the Kutztown Golden Bears.Â
