NORTH CANTON, Ohio – Tania Holmes recorded her second 20-point contest in three games, but the Clarion University women's basketball team dropped a 93-68 decision on the road at Walsh Tuesday night.

Holmes hit 9 of 24 shots including three 3-pointers while adding five assists, three rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot. The 21-point contest came six days after she recorded a career-high 30 points at Pitt-Johnstown.

Hannah Heeter added her fourth double-double in five games with 10 points and 10 rebounds while adding an assist and a blocked shot for Clarion (1-4). It was the 46th double-double of Heeter's career moving her within one of Mona Gaffney for third in school history.

Delrika Jones-Carey also reached double digits for the Golden Eagles with 12 points and added six rebounds, a steal and a block.

Kelsey Funderburgh had a game-high 29 points for Walsh (4-0) while adding six rebounds. Brittni Clopton had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds adding two assists, two blocks and a steal. Allison Butler chipped in 12 points, and Jalynn Graham had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Walsh shot 53.2 percent from the field (33 of 52) including a scorching 59.5 percent (22 of 37) in the second half, while Clarion was 36.7 percent from the field. The Golden Eagles were 5 of 7 from the free-throw line, while the Cavaliers were 18 of 22.

Things started out strong for Clarion, as the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 15-12 lead 10 minutes into the game thanks to five points from Holmes and four from Maria Taylor.

But Walsh answered with a game-controlling 20-2 run that started with a four-point play from Funderburgh at the 9:15 mark and ended with a Funderburgh triple at the 3:40 mark that put the Cavaliers up 15, 32-17.

Clarion was able to climb back to 11, 37-26, at halftime thanks to a three from Holmes and a basket by  Heeter, but Walsh started the second half on an 18-8 run to get the lead to 21, 55-34, seven minutes into the half. That lead climbed to as many as 30, 84-54, with 3:35 to play.

The Golden Eagles return to action at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Gannon.
