CLARION WRESTLERS LOSE TO RIDER & PENN
 
                (Lawrenceville, N.J.): Clarion junior Slade Horner (Ridgway) won both his individual matches on Sunday but it wasn't enough as the Golden Eagles traveled to Lawrenceville, N.J. and lost a 38-3 decision to EWL foe Rider, then lost to Penn 25-13 in NCAA Division I Wrestling held at Alumni Gymnasium.
 
                Clarion's record is 0-7 overall and 0-1 in the EWL, while Rider is 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the EWL and Penn is 1-0.
 
                Clarion's Slade Horner (Ridgway) won his bout at 165 against Andrew Reca for the Golden Eagles only points against Rider. Horner had a second period escape and takedown to win his match.
 
                John Pezze lost a close 5-2 decision to #18 ranked Chuck Zeisloft at 141. Zeisloft led 3-2 late in the match before getting a final takedown to secure he win.
 
                Joshua Davis, subbing for the injured Evan Daley at 285, trailed 1-0 in the third period and chose down, but could not escape and lost 2-0. At 184 Daniel Sutherland trailed 8-0 in the third, but Sutherland slapped on a cradle and nearly pinned Clint Morrison. Morrison eventually reversed Sutherland and won 10-4.
 
                In the Penn dual Clarion's Slade Horner won his second bout of the day when he scored a 13-0 major decision over Quinton Hiles at 165. Horner scored a takedown with 22 seconds left in the first, and a second period escape was followed by two, three-point and one two-point near fall to lead 10-0 after two periods. A takedown and riding time gave Horner his 13-0 win. Horner raised his season record to 7-6.
 
                Ryan Darch scored a gritty 2-0 decision over Carson Stack at 197. Darch escaped in the second and rode Stack out in the third period to win 2-0. Seth Carr won by forfeit at 125 to close Clarion's scoring.
 
                Evan DeLong lost a close 3-1 decision to May Bethea at 157, and Dominic Rigous lost a close 5-2 match at 174.
 
                Clarion is back in action on Saturday, December 6 when Clarion travels to Bloomsburg to participate in the PSAC Championships starting at 9am.
