Clarion, Pa. – On Senior Day at Tippin Gym, the PSAC West Champion Clarion University women's volleyball team sent its three seniors -
Carlie Bieranowski,
Laura Subject and
Laura Duncan - out in style with a 3-1 win over visiting Edinboro.
The Golden Eagles, who improved to 29-3 overall, 20-2 PSAC West matching last year's school record for PSAC victories, won by scores of 25-13, 22-25, 25-21 and 25-18.
"We started strong and played very well at times, but Edinboro made some good adjustments." Clarion head coach
Jennifer Mills said. "
Laura Subject played really well, she had some key digs really helped the team win."
Subject and Bieranowski each had strong matches for Clarion in their final regular-season home match with Subjecy leading the Golden Eagles with 46 set assists, nine digs and three kills and Bieranowski adding nine kills, eight digs and five blocks.
Taylor Braunagel paced the Clarion offense 16 kills while adding six digs, and
Gabrielle Olson added 11 kills.
On defense,
Morgan Seybold led Clarion with nine digs and
Mattison Thornton chipped in with six digs.
Edinboro was led by Challen Litwiler who had nine kills and eight digs, Sydney Trathen who had 22 set assists and six digs, and Marah Maycock who had 12 digs.
Clarion will host California (Pa.) in the opening round of the PSAC West playoffs at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tippin Gym. The game has been declared a White Out, and the first 200 Clarion students with a valid ID will receive a free T-Shirt
