Box Score CLARION, Pa. – Hannah Heeter continued her streak of double-doubles with 15 points and 17 rebounds, but the Clarion University women's basketball team dropped a 66-53 decision to visiting California (Pa.) Saturday night at Tippin Gym.

For Heeter, who added three assists and a steal, it was her ninth straight double-double, her 13th of the season and the 42nd of her career.

The Golden Eagles (10-13 overall, 4-9 PSAC West) also got 13 points from the PSAC's leading freshman scorer, Kelly Johnson, who entered the contest averaging 13.7 ppg, while Jasmine Boyd continued her strong play of late with 11 points and six rebounds, her third straight double-digit scoring contest. But Cal (16-7, 10-4), which got 20 points and five rebounds from Elena Antonenko and 12 points each from Emma Mahady and Kate Seebohm, broke open a one-point halftime lead, 32-31, by outscoring the Golden Eagles 34-22 in the second half.

An 18-4 run midway through the half proved to be the difference for the Vulcans.

Clarion trailed 41-40 following a Jen Straw layup off a Raven Jones pass with 10:46 to play, but Cal, behind seven points from Antonenko scored 18 of the game's next 22 points to take a 59-44 lead with 4:48 to play.

A strong defensive effort kept the Golden Eagles in the game in the first half, as Clarion limited Cal to 11 of 37 shooting (29.7 percent) in the half. Heeter, meanwhile had 11 points and nine rebounds at the break.

But in the second half Cal's shooting heated up (45.8 percent), and the Vulcans defense forced 11 turnovers – Clarion had 23 in the game – while limiting the Golden Eagles to 31.3 percent (10 of 32) shooting in the half.

Despite the loss, Clarion remains in a tie for the sixth and final playoff spot in the PSAC West following Mercyhurst's loss at Edinboro. The Golden Eagles and Lakers are tied for the sixth spot and meet in Clarion a week from Sunday (Feb. 23).
