Box Score 2 CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Clarion University softball team was swept in a PSAC West doubleheader at California (Pa.) Monday losing by scores of 7-0 and 10-0 in five innings.
In Game One, Cal (13-4 overall, 6-0 PSAC West) broke a scoreless tie with a run in the third and then added one in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Shawnna Crago took the loss despite pitching well. She went four innings allowing two earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out three.
Chelsea Zola was touched up for five runs, only two of which were earned, in two innings of work allowing four hits and three walks while striking out two.
Clarion (1-12, 0-6) had one hit in the game, a single by
Megan Anderson.
Taylor Powell also reached base via a walk.
In the second game, Cal wasted little time getting on top scoring three in the first and then adding a run in the second and five in the third before finishing off with a run in the fourth to put the eight-run rule into action.
Paige Baker took the loss going 3 innings and allowing nine runs, eight earned, on nine hits and a walk while striking out two.
Lyndsey Jones finished up going one inning allowing an earned run on three hits.
The Golden Eagles offense was once again held to one hit, a single by
Casey Wilcox, while
Lydia Middaugh drew a walk.
Clarion is scheduled to be back in action, weather permitting, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Gannon in a PSAC West doubleheader.
